My introvert life

Hello to all my fellow introverts out there!

I didn't realise it was a thing, but I am here for the celebration... I used to think that being an introvert was not great and a hinderance to my career. I'm a communicator and connector, I should be comfortable putting myself out there?!

But then I realised that being an introvert actually gave me my biggest superpowers ... listening and reflecting.

The interesting thing about being an introvert is that there isn't a one size fits all description to how we should think, feel or act. In fact, my introversion changes daily.

Of course when I was younger I didn't actually know that how I felt or thought was introversion. It is probably only something that I've become aware of over the past decade ... and as my awareness has grown, so has my acceptance.

Some days I love being around people and feeding off their energy, other days I need to retreat and sit with my own thoughts.

I can be shy and socially awkward, but also love facilitating workshops and events.

The thought of presenting to people makes me nervous, but I'm doing a weekly IGTV live and not worrying about it.

And just because I am all and none of these things doesn't mean I am more or less of an introvert.

I simply have got to know myself better.

It has been a challenge and a gift. I've learnt how to adapt and push myself out of my comfort zone. But also how to pace myself, building in time to recover if I've been in an over stimulating situation for example.

For all of my fears as I started out in my career, being an introvert has not held me back - it has pushed me further! I've not compromised on who I am and still I have been a director in multi-multi-million pound companies and now I have my own business.

Introverts can rule too!
